Warbird News  ~  our round-up of heavy bomber headlines ..... July 3rd 2008

We've just updated our Ride Info section with details of flight opportunities for July. We now have ride information on SIX ( yes SIX ) B-17's that we can go and fly in this spring !

Feeling spoilt for choice ? Don't forget that there are two B-24 Liberators and several B-25 Mitchells to consider too!

If there is a tour stop coming to a city near you, why go out and pay them a visit ! Ground tours are inexpensive but every contribution helps to keep these flying legends in the sky where they belong.

< July 3rd 2008 >  The Liberty Belle has flown across the Atlantic !

All being well, the Liberty Belle will arrive at Duxford airfield on July 4th and will be one of the major stars at this years Flying Legends airshow the following weekend. More news on this epic journey soon !

< June 3rd 2008 >  Thunder Over Michigan Airshow ~ August 8th & 9th 2008

This years "TOM" show could be the best show yet. The line-up is expected to include four B-17's, both airworthy B-24's and three B-25's, along with up to six P-47 Thunderbolts. This will be one occasion when the bombers will have good fighter protection!  Details of how save money on advanced ticket sales can be found right here

< June 3rd 2008 >  Lone Star Flight Museum ride program for 2008

The Lone Star Flight Museum  has planned an expanded passenger ride season for 2008. If bomber rides in the B-17G Flying Fortress ~ Thunderbird and their B-25J Mitchell ~ Doolittle Raiders isn't enough temptation to plan a vacation visit to Galveston, they are also offering warbird rides this year in PT-17 and T-6 training airplanes!

< June 3rd 2008 >  Ol'927 2008 tour delayed .....

The Commemorative Air Force B-24A Liberator is currently not touring, pending an engine change. We fully expect this issue will soon be resolved and hope to bring tour dates to you soon.

< June 3rd 2008 >  Sally B grounded pending engine change

England's only airworthy B-17 is currently grounded at Duxford, near Cambridge, pending another engine change. The cruel hand of fate has seen the number one engine fail and require replacement for a third time in the last few months.

< June 3rd 2008 >  Fuddy Duddy to gain a new home

The current owner of B-17G ~ Fuddy Duddy, has plans to build a new museum facility in California to house both his aircraft and automobile collection. It seems unlikely that General Lyons will make Fuddy Duddy available for rides but we hope that this magnificent airplane continues to fly at air shows.

< May 1st 2008 >  Add one more B-25 that will be offering rides in 2008 !

Great news from the Californian operators of B-25J Mitchell ~ Executive Sweet. They now have FAA approval to begin selling rides to the public from June this year. We've added the American Aeronautical Foundation to our links page and look forward to including this aircraft on our ride info pages very soon.

< April 8th 2008 >  The best kept secret in Arizona ~ Barbie III sells rides !

The worlds only airworthy B-25 H model is based at Falcon Field in Arizona and regularly offering ride opportunities to the public. < Sticky >  Texas Raiders to fly again in 2008 ?

The restoration of B-17G Flying Fortress ~ Texas Raiders continues at a steady pace at the Commemorative Air Force ~ Gulf Coast Wing at Hobby Airport, Houston, Texas. Work being down now should keep this airplane airworthy for many, many years to come.

< Sticky >  Great news for Fifi !

Thanks to the great generosity of Jim Cavanaugh and a bold collaborative joint venture with the Commemorative Air Force, the funding and logistics needed to return this Boeing B-29 Superfortress back to airworthy status is in place. We understand that work on the new engines is already underway.

The full news story can be found on this press release.

Lancaster ~ Mynarski Memorial .....There's only one place on earth where you can get to go and actually fly onboard a Lancaster and that requires a trip to the city of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.
